The Corsair was designed and operated by the Navy and Marine Corps as a carrier based aircraft however was used widely from land bases as well. It’s 11:1 kill ratio made it one of the most formidable fighters of the war. First deployed in 1940, the Corsair was produced until 1953. 12,571 were produced in over 16 different models and it was the longest run of any US piston-engined fighter.
